We're Not Gone! I Promise!

No we didn't run away, or get buried under fabric, or close up shop ... I've just been REALLY busy! I've wanted to sit down and post something about all the event but I've just been that busy I haven't squeezed in the time!

So let's play catch up!

First, a proper introduction to the Adorable Hiney

This is a new boutique that I opened with one of my best friends, Shauna, who is the designer and owner of KAdorable Bowtique. Before we opened AH we had designed a few pieces together. A full head to toe made to match outfit. When those seem to take off, we designed more! And soon we realized that this new "thing" we were doing need to become an "official" thing! So we join our business names just as we had our talents to give you ...

We try to put out a custom made design once a month complete with headpieces, jewelry, and one or two different style of outfits.

Its been so much fun and I'm so proud with what we've been able to accomplish while being on the furthest sides of country! That's right, we pull all this off while I'm in Hawaii still and Shauna is in Virginia!

We've also been showcasing our designs in a boutique selling group, Boutique's Best. But I'll get more into that in a little!

Now before our hiatus we had just finished our first Over the Top (OTT) contest with the model agency we use Modern Kids

The theme was "Dream Big Little One", which leaves a whole lot of places to go! We decided to go with a series of 4 scenes: Sleeping or dreaming, and than 3 things every little ones dreams of becoming. We made it a team effort so 2 designers, model mom, model, and photographer all get to pick and decide on things.

It took a month to get everything finished but we are very proud of how things turned out!

We had an amazing time with this contest! And even though it wasn't the winning piece it was still a great experience! BIG props to our photographer Love & Lenses Photography & Events.

The last big thing that Tiny Hiney has been involved with is out newest selling platform Boutique's Best
They are an online marketplace that features the best children's boutiques. Their experience and fan base has been a great new marketing and advertising area for us!And they're growing even bigger this fall with a new website and marketing plan!

We're very excited to be with them and have both TH and AH have been featured designers this summer. And we have both boutique's on the books for events with them through November!

So I think that catches us up!

Tiny Hiney will be a featured design in the Boutique's Challenge Auctions - Hawaiian Themed event this week, I'll make sure to post details and sneak of my creations!!

Happy Belated Birthday ... to ME!

WHO FORGETS THEIR OWN BUSINESS' BIRTHDAY?!?!?!? That's right THIS business owner!

I've had so much going on this month ... new events, new challenges, new contests (which all the details are slowly being released now! So stay tuned for that!) ... I totally forgot my own business' birthday!

This April, The Tiny Hiney Business is officially 4 years old! I can't believe it! I started sewing right after my first tiny hiney was born. It was mainly a hobby. Something fun to do while at home with a little baby and because everything in the store was for GIRLS! I started with the structured stuff (bags, blankets, gear, etc.), than moved more into embroidery and now clothes. I have to admit that first glance at the TH facebook page and you'll say that I'm no better than every other store out there that's 90% girl. But if you dig deeper you'll see I also have everything those little men need from play time to family pictures and holidays! I still make sure to find cool new patterns and designs and fabrics just for my boys.

Just like every year, you hope that your business will grow. This year my main growth (besides the new knowledge and skills) was collaborating with other designers and groups.

One of my best friends (who is the amazing designer behind KAdorable Bowtique) and I came together to create The Adorable Hiney. A place to find head to toe made to match custom outfits.

Than I was accepted as a designer for Boutique's Best. They are in the business of promoting amazing designers with showcases, auctions, and daily shot outs. There's so many amazing designers in this group and I'm so honored to be apart of it! I'll be one of the featured designers in the June Sail into Summer Event.  (I'll make sure to post more info and links about this when the event is closer!)

And the last big thing to happen this year, was also being accepted as a designer for Boutique's Auctions Challenges. In this group designers are given a challenge, like a theme, and create custom pieces that fit the challenge. All the pieces are put into a auction for customers to purchase! Very excited for this one since I'm hoping it'll really expand my thinking about patterns and designs! The first auction I'll be participating in will be at the end of May (again I'll be posting more updates and link about this once it's closer!)

I know this won't be the end ... I'm hoping for BIG things to come in the next year! And I want to end with a GIGANTIC THANK YOU to each and everyone of you. With out you my "dream" wouldn't exist! You've taken me so far, and I'm forever grateful!

HAPPY 4TH BIRTHDAY TINY HINEY BUSINESS!!!!

Challenge Accepted!

I am so excited to announce that I've been added as a new designer with Boutique Challenge Auctions

They are a groups that is made up of several designers of all styles (clothing, accessories, hair pretties, jewelry, etc.) that host 2-3 themed auctions a month. Just this past month they did a Steampunk/Renaissance styles auction (which is still OPEN I might add!) as well as mini April Showers auction! Too cute!

There's more auctions coming up in the next two months and I'll be sure to share everything on here!

Now off to think of designs!

I LOVE a good test, a pattern test that is!

Once again I had to honor of testing a pattern for Simple Life Co, and it is SO adorable!

One thing I love about the Breanna pattern is the options ... shorts, carpi's, pants, with or without the peek-a-boo, create strings or use ribbons for the bows ... its amazing!!! Personally I love the carpi's and shorts with the peek-a-boo, so sweet and girly!

I love the front wait band on theses. Have the elastic only in the back and flat front give them a much more polished look!

The rise on these pants is also amazing. There's room for movement but not too baggy. And for the smaller sizes it can definitely handing a little diaper booty, maybe not a fit a bulky cloth diaper as well but it would still work.

These are truly and amazing pattern. Katie's directions, measurements, and fit are great!  These pants will definitely make their debut in a few Tiny Hiney Special Collections this summer!!!

Here's where you can find the Breanna Shorts, Capri's, and Pants Pattern as well as all the other amazing patterns by Simple Life Co.

Now, you can't make capri's without an adorable top to match right! I've been sitting on the Alyssa Top by Made for Mermaids for awhile, and for this outfit it just spoke to me!

The simplicity of the style just makes the floral print stand out so much more, and I am SOOO in love with the color scheme!

And while mannequinn pictures are great, model ones are even better! Isn't this little cutie just full of sass! Love it!

Perfection right here!

This adorable outfit along with a few other limited designs will be debuting on the Tiny Hiney Business Big Cartel Store Monday April 20th at 7pm EST. There are 3 design styles, in 3 different color schemes. BUT there's only 6 items in the entire collection! So mark your calendars and set your alarms!

Welcome to April!

Its officially SPRING! Here in Hawaii we live in a constant Spring/Summer, but I know for some people things are finally starting to defrost. And that means more time outside, cute little outfits, and lots of FUN!

New month also means a new logo ... check out the TH Easter themed logo!

Of course designed by the talented Maria at Style Graphic Design!

April has A LOT going on, but two of my favorite things are Month of the Military Child and Autism Awareness!

I'm was a military child; and now I'm married to Marine and my boys are military kids! I love this life and all the good & bad that comes with it. But I know it can be hard on the kiddos. Constantly moving, changing schools, having to say goodbye to friends, family, and especially a parent. Technology in this age definitely makes things a bit easier but it's still a tough life!

One of my all time FAVORITE things to make is Homecoming Outfits. There's just something really special about mommy or daddy coming home. It doesn't matter if it's only been a month or 12 months!

Here's a few on my favorites ...

I'm sure these little men were happy to get Daddy home!

I have materials and embroidery designs for all branches of service!

These matching outfits were for three sisters!

Like I said, homecomings are HAPPY!

Here in Hawaii, we even add a little Island flair to homecoming style!

Homecomings are fun! They're full of overwhelming joy, relief, and gratitude! But at the same time they are stressful! The date and time changes at least 10 times and the waiting seems to take forever!

Because of this, and as a way to give back, I never charge a rush fee on a homecoming outfits. You have enough to worry about, I don't need to add to it! So if I can get it finished before the white bus pulls up, your little will be perfectly dresses to say WELCOME HOME!

If you every need something let me know! To see more styles and ideas check out the Facebook Military Album and for other embroidery designs check out the Pinterst Board (Pinterst is still a little under construction as I'm moving everything over from Facebook, so make sure to "follow" so you can see all the new stuff as it's pinned!

Another one of the great causes this month is Autism Awareness.

Neither one of our boys have tested on the spectrum, they still have their special needs. I also have several friends that have children on the spectrum. I love all the differences about these little kids that make them even more special!

I know that a lot of boutique groups and even fabric designers get into the spirit of awareness and have charity auctions, special fabric collections that donate, and other local events. I made these pieces last year, and had enough fabric to re-do them this year! I'm hoping I can get them into one of the boutique groups for an auction.

The beautiful bow and chunky necklace were made by my amazing friend over at Munchkin n Pumkpins Bowtique!

Both of these are made using the fabric collection Pieces of Hope by Riley Blake Designs. And this year he came out with updated version of the collection!

Definitely hoping to snag some of these prints for next year!

I know there are a bunch of causes this month and they each are so important. These two are just close to my heart and I wanted to spot light them a little more!

Up next ... more pattern testing!!!! Stay tunes are 2 beautiful new patterns coming soon!

Spring Cleaning & a Fresh Look!!!

Spring is always a time for something new and fresh. We clean out our closets, open the windows, and enjoy a fresh start to the new year.

Well here at Tiny Hiney we're doing the same thing! We've cleaned up the studio, added some new gear (look for that post coming soon!) and we have a fresh new blog design!!!

I'm great with a sewing machine and I'm fairly good around the technical side too. But when it came to this blog and it's design, I was lost! I know nothing about coding, so I sought someone else out and I found Lauren at Teach*Pray*Love Designs! Her work is amazing, simple, and beautifully themed.

She asked a few questions, put together and beautiful design, worked with all the "ideas" and "changes" I needed, and than loaded the coding for me! So simple for me!

I love all the links to the social media links, and the widgets for Pinterest and Instagram! She even did a custom "Pin It" button! Check it out, hoover over an picture and it pops up!

So what do you think about the new look???

Tiny Hiney debutes at DisneyLand!

I am a HUGE Disney Kid! I grew up in So Cal but never really went the park much. As an adult when my husband got stationed back there I went every chance I could! Disney lost money on me with that annual pass, haha! And when we had our first son, I saw a whole new magic in the park.

I've had a couple of orders from Disney inspired pieces that I know have made their way to the parks or the Disney resorts here in Hawaii. Here's some of those outfits ...

But this time is was my littles going and I needed to make sure they had a Disney outfit for every day we were there! The saddest part of the WHOLE thing ... I lost the disney photo card from that day and that had all the Meeting with Mickey pictures. UGHHHHHH!

Disneyland is a family tradition for us, and I wish we could have gone for a few more days (meaning we would have needed more outfits hehe), but I'm very grateful for what we were able to do!

The boys picked their character shirts (design by Glitzy Stitches) which matched perfectly with the Disney Christmas fabric. I used my favorite Bucket Shorts pattern by Rabbit Rabbit.

First stop was Mickey's house!

My littlest with his Disney character shirt (design by Glitzy Stitches) and cargo pants. I mashed the CKC Taylor PJ Pants and the LLK Cargo shorts to make these!

Of course they were both too excited to look at me for a good picture but can you really blame them! My oldest is wearing his Disney character shirt and Brownie Goose's Butler Britches.

I miss living in SoCal for Dinseyland. We've made it a tradition to see Mickey every year for the boys birthdays. My oldest first went when he was 2 weeks old! Yes I was THAT Disney mom, but we had to get it in before the hubby deployed. I'm so thankful that even here in Hawaii we have the Disney Aulani Resort to continue our tradition here! And even though I lost the actual Mickey pictures and this is way after there birthdays it was still cool to go!

Here's our birthday with Mickey ...

Since we were lucky enough to be at Disney for Christmas you HAVE to go see the big man!

Of course my littlest feel asleep in line, and than woke up when we tried to do a pass of, and than wouldn't go NEAR Santa! haha!

Yup ... he was traumatized!

While we were waiting for Santa we got to see a bunch of other character dressed for Christmas. My oldest is on a Goofy kick and even though he doesn't LOOK excited as ever, it totally was! He kept saying "Goofy is on my shirt, I need to go show him!"

I can't wait until we go back, or even this summer to the Disney Aulani Resort here. I'll get to make more cool outfits!

Testing, Testing ... I love testing new patterns especially when they're for boys!

We all know that I'm a fabric hoarder, but I'm also a pattern hoarder! I see a pattern and I think of the cute fabric I can use and BOOM I've purchased a new pattern. I think there's at least 10-15 sitting in my Etsy cart as well!

One of the main reason I'm switching to sell my own designs instead of all customs is because I want to use my creative ideas with pairing fabrics and patterns I love to make awesome designs! Use up some of these fabrics and patterns I just couldn't live without!

But one of the BEST things about getting to know people in pattern groups is meeting the designers. They post the new creations that they're working on and when ready they post a "tester call". Of course I try to test all the patterns that I see.! And when accepted I get to test the new patterns before they're released and give my review/changes. Makes you feel good that someone else is putting their faith in your seamstress skills to be able to do that! And for every designer that has I am truly grateful!

Last year I got to test for Rabbit Rabbit Creations for their Endless Summer Collection. I tested the Boys Bucket Shorts and LOVE them! Not just because it was a boy pattern (although that was a major plus) but because it truly is a great versatile pattern! I think I've made my boys at least 4 pairs already! One of the testers even made them super cute and girly!

Here's there mini-studio shoot to show them off, I keep forgetting to take them out and do a real shoot ... weekends just seem to fill up super fast for us.

Love my nerdy babies! They loved playing with the sticker mustaches and glasses!

I can't wait to add the Super Hero letter to the shirt and take them out for a cool photo shoot! This pattern is AWESOME!

They even made an appearance at Disney Land!! But that's another blog that I need to write about!

This is also the best picture your going to get out of two excited little boys haha!

This pattern was amazingly made. The instructions were very detailed and simple to follow, along with great pictures to match. The large floppy pockets are wonderful and as soon as the pictures were over my boys ran to fill them with their treasure!

I have several Rabbit Rabbit Patterns and I have to say that this one is my favorite right now! I have several more in the "plans" and some that are even going to be released as specials latter this year!

Love is in the Air!

Valentines is right around the corner! Time for reds, and pinks, and hearts, and chocolate!

I've created two designs for Valentines and they both go on sale THIS WEEK!

Open Heart

This dress is simple, clean lines, modern dress but with a BIG wow factor in the back. The back bodice has an open heart cut out! With a one button closure on the top. Full skirt with plenty of twirl.

I choose a simple repeating fabric pattern, since I want you to see the dress shape more than the fabric pattern.

Cupids Bow

Again another simple, with clean lines, and modern shape dress, with more WOW factor in the back! Sweet peter pan collar that connects to a big bow on the back with the tails all the way down the dress. A simple pleat in the front to finish it off.

I love these dress! They are less "over the top" and more hidden "special features". And my model was amazing, as well as my great photographer Ria Reed Photography! I can't wait to use them again!

To get one of these pretties made for your little one simply head on over to Tiny Hiney Business and stock the page! I'll be placing the load times and dates today, with all the "business" details. There will be a limited amount of spots so click fast!
